The ILUSTRATOR – Illustrated Communication Festival is the international industry conference for illustrators in Poland.
The lectures will be translated into Polish Sign Language
This year we are meeting on October 09–10, 2026 in the unique space of the St. John's Centre.
October 09 (Friday) – workshop day (limited number of places, registration required).
October 10 (Saturday) – a full-day international conference with the participation of outstanding guests from Poland and abroad.
Our goal is to strengthen the community of illustrators, regardless of their specialization: books, comics, 3D, advertising, education, or artistic projects.
We believe that despite our differences, we share many common challenges and goals.
The festival is a space for building relationships, discussing professional ethics, working conditions, technology, and the role of illustration in visual communication.
The lectures will be translated into Polish Sign Language (PJM) and will have simultaneous interpretation. At the entrance, you will be able to pick up headphones for free with two language channels: PL → EN – translation from Polish to English and EN → PL – translation from English to Polish

Lettering in illustration

Lettering in illustration plays a unique role it not only communicates content but can also become an integral part of the visual narrative. During the workshop, we will explore techniques for creating hand-drawn lettering compositions and then adapt them to an individual illustration style.
To get the most out of the workshop, we recommend bringing sketches or illustrations that you would like to develop lettering for, as well as your favorite drawing tool something characteristic of your personal style.

Sculpture in Virtual Reality

Want to learn the techniques of sculpting in virtual reality (VR)? Immerse yourself in the world of digital sculpture and discover what it’s like to create three-dimensional characters. During this interactive workshop, Maciek Łazowski will introduce you to VR technology, its possibilities, and how it can become a new creative tool.
After a short introduction, it will be time to create your own work. Using VR headsets, you’ll have the opportunity to experiment with form and space and create your own 3D sculpture. No previous experience is required the workshop is an opportunity to simply step into the virtual world and see what you can create. At the end, you’ll receive your own project in 3D (.obj) format, which you can continue developing in the 3D graphics software of your choice.
IMPORTANT
The workshops take place in small groups of 5 and last approximately one hour. Sessions are held between 14:00 and 17:00. After signing up for the workshop, each participant will receive information about which group they have been assigned to.

Place
The festival will take place in the extraordinary, historic 14th-century interiors of Centrum św. Jana, located in the heart of Gdańsk (Świętojańska Street 50). This stunning Gothic venue, known for hosting cultural events, concerts, and exhibitions.
